Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Why Consider Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Frown lines and ‘crow’s feet’ wrinkles can give a person an angry, tired, or displeased appearance, even when they are not experiencing those emotions.

Anti-wrinkle injections can give a softer, more relaxed, and more pleasing appearance without losing your natural facial expression.

Anti-wrinkle injections are the most effective way to treat lines and wrinkles and improve your overall appearance.

What Anti-Wrinkle Injections Treat

The most commonly requested areas for anti-wrinkle injections are for treating:

  • Adding life around the eyes (Crow's Feet),
  • Smoothing creases on the forehead and brow,
  • Relaxing lines between the eyes (glabella) and on the nose,
  • Improving frown lines around the mouth, and
  • Smoothing the chin and jawline.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections Benefits

The advantages of Anti-Wrinkle injections

Soften expression lines

  • Create a natural-looking reduction in expression lines such as smile lines and ‘crow's feet’.

Restore facial balance

  • When professionally administered, Anti-Wrinkle injections can restore balance to the face.

Reduce fine lines and wrinkles

  • By relaxing the muscle, Anti-Wrinkle injections reduce fine lines and wrinkles and prevent future lines from deepening.

Regain a more youthful appearance

  • By tightening and smoothing the face and skin's appearance.

How Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work

Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the contracted muscles that cause these wrinkles.

After the anti-wrinkle injection, the functional nerve signal to the target muscle is partially or fully blocked. This means that when the brain says ‘squint, it’s sunny’, the target muscles around the eye say ‘I can’t hear you’.

In effect, the treatment relaxes and lifts the muscles, instantly softening lines and wrinkles and reducing their severity to give a tighter, smoother appearance.

Wrinkle Prevention

Anti-Wrinkle Injections are most effective when used as a preventive measure to reduce the formation of static wrinkles.

Reduced muscle movement places less stress on the skin, helping you maintain a fresh, youthful appearance.

How Quickly Will I See Results?

Once the formula is injected, it immediately relaxes the targeted muscles.

This helps soften fine lines and wrinkles.

It generally takes 2 - 5 days after the initial treatment to see results.

To reach a full result, it can sometimes take up to 14 days.  Any re-treatment should not occur within that period.

How Long Does Anti-Wrinkle Injection Therapy Last?

The effects can typically last 4-6 months, depending on the individual.

If you are dissatisfied with the benefits of a single injection, a second injection can be given after 2 weeks.

Once you achieve a satisfactory result, the next visit is scheduled for 3 months later.

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Process

Preparation for Treatment

  • Stop taking Vitamin E - 1 week before the treatment,
  • Stop taking Aspirin and Anti-inflammatory medicines - 2 weeks before treatment, and
  • Advise the doctor if you are taking blood-thinning medications, whether you are expecting treatment or just a consultation.

Day of Your Treatment

  • Do not consume large amounts of alcohol for 24 hours before treatment to reduce the risks of bruising
  • Avoid lying down horizontally for 4 hours.
  • Avoid vigorous physical activity or exercise for 24 hours
  • Do not have facial treatments, rubs or massages on the treated area

During Your Treatment

Anti-Wrinkle Injection Therapy can take only 10 minutes. It is a simple procedure and involves:

  • Cleansing the area to be treated,
  • Applying an ice pad to reduce discomfort,
  • Injecting the Anti-Wrinkle agents with a fine needle into the target muscle beneath the wrinkle.

You may return to work immediately.

After Your Treatment

  • Maximise facial activity for 30 minutes after treatment, such as frowning, raising your eyebrows and squinting.
  • Use paracetamol if pain relief is required

We also advise you to avoid:

  • Rubbing the treated area, or
  • Lying down after treatment, as material can move to nearby tissue, causing paralysis

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Injected?

Anti-wrinkle injections are made from a specialised formula derived from purified protein, which safely targets overactive muscles.

Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Hurt?

Everyone experiences pain differently and has different pain thresholds. Anti-wrinkle injections are a relatively painless procedure, though a mild stinging sensation may be felt.

Most people compare the sensation of face injections to a quick prick or a slight pinch, but it only lasts a few seconds.

Anti-wrinkle treatments require no anaesthetic; however, a topical anaesthetic can be used for dermal fillers if needed.

Can I have anti-wrinkle injectables while pregnant?

It is not recommended to receive injectable treatments while pregnant, as the risks are uncertain due to the lack of information available about the effects on the fetus.

For more information, please call us and request to speak with one of our medically trained registered doctors or nurses.

Can I Get Anti-Wrinkle Injections If I am under 18?

We do not treat anyone under 18 with cosmetic injectables. We do offer a wide range of skin treatments suitable for your age group.

We welcome you to visit our clinic with a parent or guardian to discuss any of these options.

How many units will I need to get rid of my frown lines and crow’s feet?

To determine the correct dosage, you need to book a consultation with the clinic. With regular treatments, the dosage can be reduced.

Do you offer discounts on anti-wrinkle injections?

Due to strict regulations set by the Therapeutic Goods Act (TGA), it is against the law to discount an injectable treatment. Discounted treatments should raise alarm bells when you are choosing which clinic to trust with your treatment. The injector's skill is more important than price. An efficient injector will achieve maximum results with minimum product.

Can I Bring My Child to An Appointment?

Whilst we all love children, for health and safety reasons, children cannot accompany patients into the treatment rooms or be supervised by staff. Thank you for your understanding.

Possible Adverse Effects from Injections:

Redness and bruising at the injection site may be seen and resolve in a day or two.

You may experience a mild headache, double vision, drooping or swollen eyelid, dry eyes, and reduced blinking.

During an Anti-Wrinkle Procedure

Anti-Wrinkle Injection Therapy may take as little as ten minutes. It is a simple in-office procedure and involves:

  • Cleansing thoroughly the area to be treated,
  • Applying an ice pad to reduce discomfort, and
  • Injecting the Anti-Wrinkle agents with a fine needle directly into the muscle beneath the wrinkle.

You may return to work immediately.

Post-Treatment Information

We recommend you maximise facial activity for 30 minutes after your treatment (such as frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting).

We also advise that you:

  • Avoid rubbing the treated area or
  • Avoid lying down after your treatment, as the injected anti-wrinkle substance can spread to other areas nearby and paralyse other muscles

How much does one unit of anti-wrinkle cost?

Our everyday price for anti-wrinkle injections is $3.95 per unit. The number of units required will depend on the treatment area and other factors unique to you.
